In 1941, the American News Company (ANC) founded avon book June 2023 Publications as a paperback book publisher. It started with a focus on comics, but then changed to include a range of genres, especially romance.

Avon Impulse

The company was purchased by Hearst Corporation in 1959. Hearst would put a focus on the romance offerings of the company, causing it to grow to become one of the largest publishers of this genre. The company continued to publish inexpensive paperbacks on popular themes, such as westerns and whodunits. However, the emphasis on romance boosted their profits.

Avon is still publishing romance novels in the present. Avon Impulse is a digital imprint that publishes both paperbacks and ebooks. The imprint is open to submissions from amateur writers who are not represented by an agent. It allows authors to explore their limits without worrying about the reaction of the publishing industry.
